As of today I will no longer be a member of the forum. The latest post from Scrollerman was the last straw. This is not the first time he has caused unpleasantness, it goes back to when he first joined the forum and many of you who contribte today will not know what went on in the past. I think when he joined the forum he took an instant dislike to me. I have no idea what caused him to act in this way but I have had enough. I have made many friends on the forum whom I will stay in touch with but enough it enough so I will say goodbye to you all and wish you all many years of happy scrolling.

Is it really necessary to leave Geoff? I appreciate sound advice wherever I find it but I've never once relinquished the right to test perceived wisdom and speak up if I thought it was lacking. I think many here are in the same sort of situation too. You're not addressing errant schoolkids here but grown adults many of whom probably have skills you've never heard of and take offense when told to simply shut up.

I can only speak for myself when I say that a little added civility would be far more preferable than walking out and taking your bat home.

Sorry to see you go Geoff. As a recent newbie to this forum your posts have helped me and I'm sure many others too.

I wish you well in whatever future endeavours you decide to follow. Perhaps we may cross paths at some future craft fair.

It's just a shame you can't ignore the forum member who you say dislikes you, and continue posting your invaluable advice, but I guess we all find our breaking point eventually.

Anyway, take care you'll be sorely missed.

Don't you think you may be overreacting just a little? I don't know your past history with the member you mention but reading the 'Doris' thread I honestly can't see anything that the other member said that would justify you packing your bags? In fairness your last post to him in that thread was very unkind and unnecessary, perhaps you should just take a few days to cool down and perhaps you will feel differently about the issue?

I am sure that in a few days you will have regrets about your decision to leave this forum over such a small issue. :)

Lol I got banned from a model railway forum a few years ago after upsetting the admin but I have never left one because of a disagreement with another member, it's better to stand and stick up for yourself IMHO. :)

I thought that I posted a reply but possibly I didn't hit the submit part.Geoff I am very sad at your post and hope that you will reconsider, the comments of ONE person must not upset you to make this choice, you had your pop at him in the post .
We can't please all of the people all of the time, but your posts will be missed. The scrollerman doesn't appear to post that often,so that can't be a problem.I've nailed my colours to the mast to the person that will be sorely missed. :(

Geoff - we meet people in life we don't like, usually you don't buy them a beer at the bar.

But in reality, you do, because you are that man who helps people without asking and shares their experiences in life to others, you have a passion that goes beyond most of us in here, never mind the ability.

If I could say anything and its this, " Don't let what you have contributed in these forums, the advice and experience you have to offer go to waste " because we all fall out some time, and in life there are people who just don't get on, but suck your stomach in ( I cant ) , and stick yer chest out (my stomach is way bigger than my mrs) and apologise for what you said. Wrong or right !

Lets all move on, and if in 48hrs you still feel you don't want to be part of these excellent forums, then I for one would miss you.

Not sure where my post yesterday went but I will send what has been said and add that personally you have been a great help with fantastic advice that has quickly moved some areas of my hobby along. Thanks Geoff and I hope you reconsider.

Hi Geoff,

If your still watching this I'm a relative newby, and obviously there's history here I'm not party to. But I agree, your contribution's on here are appreciated and respected by the majority. Take some time out! You must enjoy contributing your knowledge and experience judging from the quality and depth of your post's, try a chillover for a few days/weeks and reconsider. Much respect

Chas

Geoff.

Very sorry to read your goodbye post, I don’t know what the offending post was all about, and it’s none of my business.

But please reconsider your decision, I have gleaned many tips/ideas from yourself, and from your thanks you have obtained a few ideas from me.

Plus your information and guidance is invaluable for those new to the world of scroll sawing.

Take care and all the best.

Chris R.

Chippy , I don't even have a scroll saw (yet) and I will miss your posts. I have found them to be well written and informative. If a wee bit of advice might not seem too arrogant on my part , I would treat disagreeable posts as I do reality programs on television and tune them out , go look for something on "another channel". I believe heartily that our own Jimi43 has it right in his signature, "those that matter won't mind , and those who mind don't matter".
