Father Christmas brought me a glue gun this year, and with it came two packs of glue sticks. In one of the packs, the glue sticks are like a white colour, similar to the ones I've seen with glue guns in DIY stores. The other pack, well these glue sticks have a sort of brown tint to them.

I'm not sure what the difference between the glue stick is, so if anyone has any helpful suggestions...

Are they the same brand ? Is there nothing on the packaging to differentiate ?

IMHO, glue sticks are as much about forming around (and into) things as they are about actually sticking, ie, not the strongest glue bond so would suggest that it doesn't matter what colour they are

FWIW, mine have always been white or clear

You can get different coloured glue sticks and even some with sparkles in so the other half tells me but ultimately they all do the same thing, just like you can get brown wood glue which is some people's preferred choice when using darker woods but it does the same job as the yellow / white stuff.

Take a look at Axi's site for hot melt glue - it might not help you make sense of two different colours, but it may make you fell less concerned about what they are both for. http://www.axminster.co.uk/fixing-gluin ... tmelt-glue
On the other hand it may make you think "what did he tell me that for? It doesn't help one bit"
If so please accept my apologies but I'm currently practising for midnight (***** *****)

Akshully Zeddedhed, they claim different materials and tack time so perhaps its more than just colour after all

***** ***** yerself btw, mines a 14yo Balvenie, whats yours ?

Fanxsh Den. Dunno exakly what I'm drinkin but it shays Liberon on the tin - bit like Baileys and Malibu....

MM...the forsh is shtrong wivvin you..

I think you'll find that the different colours are for different materials.
In my set, The white/clear ones are for general purpose repairs and fabrics and plastics, will repair you're holed lawn mower collection bag and most other things.
Very useful tool! Rodders

Is the gun a single temp gun or does it have both high & lo settings? Some glues are designed to melt at lower temps.
