I know there's thousands of fonts for free download, but sometimes, when you read the small print, they are for personal use only and you often have to request and/or pay for commercial use. If that bothers you, there's 1000 free fonts very soon to download, install on up to 5 computers, and are allowed unlimited commercial use.
http://www.bitsdujour.com/software/1000-opentype-fonts Keep an eye on it.

Martin, a great believer in free software. :)

These fonts are available today only - 29-09-13. You need to 'like' with Facebook (ugh) or complete a short questionaire to get the download link. You also need to supply an email address to have the link sent to. I use a throw away hotmail address for such things, but you can use an existing email address and then unsubscribe from the newsletter if you don't want it, although I keep the newsletter coming as it's how I get to know about the free stuff.

The fonts come in a zip archive which also contains a text file telling you how to install them, if you don't already know how.

I've just got mine and already spotted a couple that could be good scroll saw fonts.

Martin.

Sounds too technical for me and very complicated,I don't mind paying a couple of pounds to cut patterns that I know will look good when finished.I do get my patterns from Sue Mey or Shiela Landry and the magazine CW & C to which I subscibe to.

The fonts can be used in many programs, Bryan, but for scroll saw use, they are only any good if you are making your own patterns, and there's plenty of other free ones out there anyway. In 18 months, when Cameron starts paying me a weekly sum, I might buy patterns too.
