Following the purchase of a new shiny No 4 I have two spare No. 4s.

Before you get too excited they are not great quality but would serve for someone to set started or to fill a gap.

Idealy it would be nice to help a couple of members out, but if you want both and there is limited other demand that is fine, just say so in your message.

One is an almost new stanley 'craftsman' No 4, I forget the other make - much older, some rust to the blade but could be serviceable with some tlc.

PM or post if interested. I will give priority to those that can collect (Nailsworth, Glos, GL6) but would consider posting (at cost) if you are too far away.

I have no photos at the moment - will try to post some later if no takers based on above.

All the best,

Simon

So Simon, let me see if I've got this right.......

...........you already had not one, but two number 4 planes? How am I doing so far?

Two number fours, at least one of which is almost new.

Then, you woke up one morning and decided that two (including one almost new one) wasn't enough, a man needs three number 4 planes. So, out you popped to the shops.

When you came home, your significant other simply asked whether that new one wasn't just a little bit like some of the other ones you already owned. Your answer to that is the crux of this matter.

So far, I'm finding you guilty. Can't really see a way out of this for you......guilty as sin.

Mike

Yeah but, you've got to have the functional Lee Valley one, the green and silver Clifton one and then the nice shiny bronze Lie Nielsen one. And then one for Sunday best. And an old Record. And maybe an old Stanley too

I absolutely agree with Damian here. Shiny is good...what about a nice Kell to go with the new acquisitions?..also nice and shiny 8) - Rob

Sorry Rob,

Have to hang me head on the shiny jig front - I really get on well with an eclipse copy I got at a car boot for 50p!

Having said that, I am really only just getting the hang of the blue runs, my natural ability may top out on a tough red - having had a great day at Waka's I do realise I am amongst some serious down-hill specialists though who regard a black double diamond as a pre-breakfast warm up!

All the best

Simon

Simon,

I'll take both of the 'afters' please  . You've done an amazing job at transforming them.

Joke. Deadpan mode

Though you must admit Simon's shiny LN looks lovely, a little golden god

Yes maybe, but I couldn't sell a Lie Nielsen Bronze No. 4 on the forum.
Ended up going on eBay (Although I got a good price!)

A lesson maybe?
Just because it's LN and good, doesn't mean it will actually suit you.

:)

John
