Hi, I'm new to this forum so let me firstly start by saying I am an absolute complete novice in woodworking. I'm looking to take a course or two next year and do woodworking as a little hobby.
I've started dabbling with things now that are really basic. Currently I am trying to make a very basic table (literally wood top with legs - no special joints or anything) that can be stored and fetched out and the idea here is to use a folding table leg. The table size is 4ft by 2ft and I will be making two of them to make a 4ft by 4ft when they are put side by side. My issue is I just don't know how to do the folding legs. It need only be a single hinge where the leg and table meet but I want something that I can lock in place to secure the table. I did attempt this with a hinge from Hafele that locks up and down but unfortunately when it is locked down there is way too much give in it so the table is very unsteady. Has anyone got any suggestions on a lockable hinge or some other solution that someone like me (total novice) could implement?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
