Just out of interest, were those guys in any danger of suffocation if immersed in the foam?

Very little, it's 99%+ air, but if panic mode sets in heart problems or accidents trying to get out of the building are a distinct possibility. It takes a very clear head to orientate yourself when totally immersed.

The other significant thing about HiEx foam is that when you are in it you cannot hear anything. There is nothing but total silence which is eerie and can be very disorienting.
We used to demonstrate this by lowering a distress signal unit into the foam. These things are very loud electronic horns. Very loud, meant to attract attention if you are trapped etc.
By the time the DSU gets to about an arm's length into the foam you can't hear it at all.
Cheers.

At work,we move it in bulk - think what 26 tonnes of concentrate would make..
Each load we do,I have to find a tank that will be as full as possible when loaded - apparently,it can get "a little frothy" otherwise
