Hi folks

does anyone know of a cheap source of these please? I know Axy do the 85 packs for about a tenner and the 510 packs for 50 something. I wondered if any cunning manufacturer has cloned them and selling for a lot less than that?

Thanks in advance.

Not aware of any third-party source for these - I always assumed they'd be patented, the same way the tool is?? Even if they're not patented/protected in some way, I'd be surprised if the demand was great enough to make it a worthwhile proposition for some other manufacturer.

Easy enough to make your own, of course, but wether that ends up cheaper than 10p apiece will depend on what your time's worth, I guess, and how many you expect to use.

I was once making a large frame with double dominos at each joint, I was short on dominos so used one regular domino and one self-made domino at each joint.

Here's the thing, I made my dominos from rectangular section stock, which was fast and easy.

The way I look at it is that for stacked domino joints I'll sometimes use the "looser fitting" setting on one mortice. As most of the strength comes from the glue joint on the cheeks I don't think this is bad practise. So the regular Domino gave the precise location, and the second, self-made domino added 80 or 90% additional strength.
