Been chatting on another forum about vehicles, motor bikes and cars. Doubtless we all have favourites, vehicles we have owned, or would like to, but what about those we have owned and wished we hadn't!?
In my case, on two wheels, having owned a couple of dozen bikes in my time, top of my list, (or bottom if you like) is the Yamaha XS250!
Over weight, under powered, (when you could get it to start that is!) and generally suitable only for reinforcing concrete!
On four wheels, I'm a heretic and fully expect a few death threats, but my personal vote is for the Morris Minor!
Tin Hat on the way out!

Roy.

I've been fortunate to choose all my cars and so none of them are turkeys

I'd be interested in knowing if there is much overlap in cars that we've owned. So here's my list - in no particular order

Original Mini - complete with rotten cills filled with lard and newspaper - I kid you not. My first car.
Austin-Healey Sprite - new ! A 21st birthday present to myself. Well living with parents and a good job...
MGB x 2
MGB GT x 2 (actually I lie..one of those was a dog)
Fiat 128
Alfa Romeo Sprint Veloce (wrote that one off)
Corrado - one with the supercharger
Toyota MR2 - the original model
Ford XR3i
Lotus Elan S2 plus
Fiat Coupe (can you spot the theme yet ? :D )
Mazda RX8
Honda S2000
Hyundai Santa Fe

I'm sure there's one or two that I've missed.

but what about those we have owned and wished we hadn't!?

'D' reg Ford Orion Ghia (first car) went rotten quicker than my mate could plate it !

Roger is the sante fe diesel and if so what sort of mpg does it do ? (sorry for the thread hijack)

Steve :)

Yes, it's the diesel but the earlier engine ('03) and so I get 38 mpg. I hear that the later engines are not so economical. Have to say the car is an absolute gem and one of the best and most versatile cars I've ever owned. My first car ever to go over 110,000 miles as well. It seems more refined for a 4x4 and not as much 'in your face' as some of the other more butch'er 4x4's.

I took out the back seats and whacked in this MDF box. So all the cr*p and stuff to go to the tip goes in that.

Love going down the tip as I don't need a permit 'cos it's not a van and not a trailer but I can get more than either inside !

Not really had any bad cars as they all did the job at the time
But when I was 18 I had a mark 1 escort that my mate and I shoehorned a 3.5ltr rover engine and gearbox into it out of SDI vitesse it went like sh*t off a shovel
Best for comfort and speed for me is the under-rated rover 75 which I have had a few
and have the mk2 estate at the moment

In 35 years of driving I have only owned about 5 cars. I seem to keep them until they die. My current Audi A3 has 160000 miles on it.

In 36 years of riding motorcycles I have had loads, I have a NC30, ZXR400 and a fireblade in the garage at the moment. My favourite bike though was a Yamaha FZR1000exup. The first real super-bike in my opinion. My least favourite was a CZ175 trail bike, it was rubbish and died long before I finished paying the HP.

Mick

CZ175 trail bike,

They were truly 'orrible!
My son has just purchased a kawasaki ZZR1100. I can't even heave it upright off of its side stand!

They don't make 'em like they used to. Thank God!

Roy.

If I had known more about cars at age 17, I might have had better luck with keeping the Isetta going but the other cars have been very good.
My Cmax is very reliable thankfully as it is very difficult to find out enough information to fault find when it does have the odd problem.
I have a phobia about taking any car to a garage.

I quite fancy getting another Isetta as a restoration project - maybe

Bob

Transit van, (happy so far)
Didn't realise I had, had so many!

I have a phobia about taking any car to a garage.

You should try my local garage Bob. They sold my son a Land Rover that had zero braking. They jacked a neighbour's car up on the floor pan and went straight through! Ran a two stroke on straight petrol with predictable results and sent my lad's Rover out with a loose wheel. Sent a neighbours car out with a carb jet missing, and these are just the ones I know about.
The place changed hands recently!

Roy.

2005 Jeep Cherokee 2.8 diesel. What a piece of sh... well you know what I mean. Bought brand new (first mistake), traded in a K reg Ford Sierra I bought for £250 and never had to do anything to but change oil and add petrol in 3 years of owning. Shoulda kept the Sierra.

The Jeep had to have the AA out to it 5 times in 4 years, had main dealer recalls to replace the ball joints, alarm module, EGR valve and the torque converter. The last straw was following the service after the warranty ran out I was told there was a leak from the rear main oil seal, with a quote of £1100 to fix. All this out of a 3 year old car.

Traded it in for a Tranny (van, not a bloke in a skirt, honest... :-" ), never looked back.

So, cars I've owned in order of appearance, not that many actually -

1958 Ford Consul - first car, unfortunately not the cool Z cars type but the one with the naff roundy back lights.
Hillman Imp
Renault 4
Renault 5 x 3
Renault 14 x 2
1983 Ford Escort XR3i - the original i version. Wish I still had that one!
1988 Jag XJS 3.6 manual - wonderful car but couldn't keep up with the rust
1995 Jag XJR - rocket ship/gas guzzler
1987 Ford Fiesta XR2 in mint condition - current wife's car which she refuses to part with.
1998 BMW 540i - current daily drive but getting a bit long in the tooth and looking for a replacement. I would buy another the same but they all have a million miles on the clock.
1988 Hilux pickup - current vehicle for tinkering with. Very useful for collecting wood etc.
1995 Jag XJS 4.0 manual - current weekend car. OK but disappointing after the previous one.

As I said, I'm looking for another daily drive, possibly a 7 series as they seem to be good value at the moment. I'll probably get rid of the Jag as I plan to retire next year and 4 vehicles might too much of a drain on the pension plan!!

What did you think of the Fiat Coupe Roger? I had the 20VT and loved it, most reliable car I've owned, well put together, stylish and very quick. Just no good for lugging timber

I've had:

Land Rover SWB Series 3 - had its challenges
Renault 19 - rubbish
Honda Civic - dull but worthy
BMW 325 convertible - good fun, great engine, but no LSD and wanted to go sideways when you weren't expecting it
Fiat Coupe 20VT - see above! Great car
Ford Focus - dull but took the miles, most electrical items on it failed
RAM SC Cobra V8 - side pipes, no roof, oh yes
TVR Tamora - oh dear lord, what a car
Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon - power and practicality

Still have the last two. I have a standing order set up with Shell...
