Is it OK to use pocket hole screws to fasten a table top to the frame, or do I use the wooden clip type things I've seen Norm use on the NYW ?
The timber I'm using is pine.

I wondered if the pocket hole screws would be too rigid to allow enough for movement between the table top and the frame.

Any help and guidance appreciated.
Chris.

Cheers jasonB,
I'd never thought about using something like those stretcher plates. Too busy trying to be a woodworker.

Hi Chris

I found the best way is to rout a groove all around the inside of the table and then making small inserts (see pic) and screw a few of these to the top...

Hope the pic explains better than I can in words...
