Seeing the numbers of births rise just makes me angry. :evil:

All you hear about from politicians is growth, why doesn't someone deal with the fact there are just too many people in the world and in this country. Having watch a bit of 'Benefit Street' on the TV it occurs to me a lot of those born are totally surplus to requirements!

Almost 3 million new people to feed already this year, (10 days in)!!!! Staggering. Surely something needs to be done, or our great grandchildren will be facing far worse problems that global warming.

Personally I'd take any of those figures with a HUGE pinch of salt! It is an American site after all and they all love to exaggerate and they're not the brightest race on Earth :roll:

Leaving aside your sweeping generalisation and use of an outdated concept to define a population , I think it's worth looking at their sources; you'd be hard pressed to find a more authoritative set of sources http://www.worldometers.info/sources.php . The problems really start when statistics are considered in isolation, stripped of context, and then compounded by mistaking correlation with causation. Unfortunately, it's the frequently deliberate selective use of statistics out of context that has led to their tarnished reputation, as in "Lies, damned lies, and statistics". Statistics are a valuable tool, when used responsibly - Florence Nightingale is often cited here, her impact was not from her skill as a nurse, but from her skill as a statistician.

Nah it is China that has all the guns and men now. China have an Army of 3 million men compaired to 1 million to the US, then look at the missiles, chemical etc then go to tanks, planes, artillary pieces, the US falls way, way short of what China could place of the field should there be another world conflict.

I think I am more concerned with China than the US.
