Has anyone any suggestions for my dilema here? I want to engrave names into little wooden name plaques, but i've had a go with the cheapy engraving set i got from Woolworths (don't laugh :D ) and it is okish but i totaly destroy more plaques than i make. It's so hard engraving delicately and steady, i would love to be able to get an engraved "italic" or basic calligraphy type engraving but by hand that just ain't gonna happen in my life!

Any suggestions?

It is difficult to do small letters neatly. Laser engraving is usually used for that sort of thing these days. For hobby use a very high speed (air turbine) handpiece can also be used. These are not very cheap but a lot less than a laser!
