Wasn't sure where to put this. Sorry Mods!
Saw a recent thread on vices and it reminded me to post this. My Dad's vice. I'm 41 and he's had it as long as I can remember. He gave it to me the other month. (Moaned a bit, hasn't used it since 1972 :) ) Anyone got any ideas on make etc? It really doesn't matter. I've seen some records in the same colour (but no similar models) but as I say it's more for interests sake than anything. Works differently to a 52 type vice type etc but is chirpy enough for the age. I have bought some magnetic soft jaws for it. This chap is going nowhere. 8)

Sorry for the tobacco. Not sure why that's there.

Seeing how narrow the foot print is for the bolt holes - did it used to sit on a base that let it turn left and right?

Are you going to tidy it up or keep it as is? I think I'd flatten the anvil.

Not super quality - the anvil is part of the casting, so you've got a cast iron hammering surface - not ideal.

Edit - unless the whole body is drop forged steel (which is possible, very desirable, but unlikely)

Probably leave it tbh, I have a small anvil, its a tiny anvil and tbh I don't need an anvil. I use this for filing and stuff, height is raised, fitted to my 'metalwork bench ' (lol) which is nice, doesn't clog up my record with bronze etc fillings.... I have no idea where it used to sit. My guess is old school model. My dad was a teacher not a metalworker but he was good mates with Dave Parker the woodwork teacher. As a young lad I loved Dave cos he drove a Landrover and used to electrocute kids with the electric gas lighters... BzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzT! :D

Cheers guys.
