hi
this is the drill that i bought at the weekend, an elliot progress no1. a few before and after pictures.
also, i was on here yesterday and asked about how do you tension the return spring on the drill.
i wasnt sure it was working, but after having taken the cover off, i could see the spring moving so i knew it was connected ok.
some on here suggested loosening the nuts and just popping out the case a touch and then turning, but the elliot is not like that.
i noticed that the housing is a wheel type thing with ridges that looked like it was made to turn, when i tried it, it wouldnt budge.
a few squirts of wd40 and i managed to free it. after turning the wheel anit clockwise i could fell the spring getting tighter.
once you have the tension correct there is a grub screw that you have to tighten to keep the tension where it is.
you can see what i mean in the picture ive attached.
i thought id mention all this just in case anyone else gets in a similar situation with an elliot drill.
as the old saying goes, its simple when you know how.

cheers

chris m......

Looks good. You're lucky it adjusts so well and the spring was intact. Those springs seem very hard to source and on some PDs they are a pain to adjust. I'm envious................
