A happy Easter to you all, And don't eat the kids Easter eggs, you'll find they make you're trousers shrink!
With Regards Rodders

Best thing i've discovered in a long time , stretch jeans, expanding waistline here we go ...... Happy easter :)

John

Cornwall...you're having a laugh, I haven't even made it out my dressing gown yet!

Sat on my loathsome butt looking at this 'ere computer. Kids fed, missus just had coffee and toast in bed. Today we have planned as a lazy day and I'm loving every second of it so far. I cant even be ****** to get up and put the kettle on. I don't give a toss what the weather's doing as I plan to be nowhere near it :)

A happy Easter to everybody too, even though the weather is gloomy :D

Bit of a relaxing day for me too. Every year the news is full of the 'horrendous Easter getaway' -which always makes me want to stay at home.

I brought some flour back from my holiday in Brittany so this afternoon will be trying my hand at cooking galettes

that will be farin de ble noir you've got there then Robin. That's the stuff used for galettes which as you know are the savourie jobbies. I much prefer them to the crepes, made with the white flour and far too sweet for me!!

We had a fair number of holidaze in Brittany before we moved over. Lovely place but nearly the same climate as the S U.K. With my arthritis I wanted more warmth 8) 8)

Cleared some ground weed at the kidfs judo club from eight this morning.
Home, made 2 dozen HCB's and caught up another couple of episodes of Breaking Bad - Proper Easter bloodshed!!
Happy Easter to all
Greg

Farin de ble noir -that's the stuff!

Batter is now made, its supposed to rest for 2 hours, so will be making a batch of galettes later for eating over the weekend.

Galettes seem to be to Brittany what Pasties are to Cornwall (and both delicious)

Last year I had a holiday in Brittany staying near Malestroit (it's between Rennes and Vannes) and absolutely loved it. We now have a dog, so have booked to go back in July. Although the weather last year was fantastic, I'm led to understand Brittany has similar climate as Cornwall, so potentially unreliable (as you also mention).

Ive been thinking about trying further south for a holiday with the idea of being able to take our dog and yet still have mediterranean warmth. I'm thinking the Dordogne, say near Bergerac, maybe an option. It seems driveable from Calais with a stop over and hopefully far enough South to be warm. John, If you have any advise / recommendations, itll be much appreciated.

PS apologies Rodders, Im not trying to hijack the thread!

We will be going up to the Loire later this month for a few days to have a look at some more of the châteaux there. We will be going through Dordogneshire. It's a lovely area, but too many Brit expats for us, hence the name

Down here is easily achieved with a stop over and Carcassonne is one of the places that has to be seen to be believed. 10 years after arriving it still knocks us out from almost any angle. Especially on a clear day driving across the autoroute. You have the Cité in front of you and the Pyrenees in the rear view mirror!! The Canal du Midi is well worth a wander too!

But as you said, apologies for the hijaque. Perhaps we should start a new fred
