Hello,

I'd like to grain fill an ash guitar body before spraying tinted nitrocellulose lacquer, I've read good things about the rustins oil based filler and it seems to work well under cellulose sealer/lacquer.

I'd like to dye it a very dark brown/black colour but I can't find much info on a suitable dye to stain the grain filler darker? Should I use a spirit based dye or a water based dye?

Thanks

It might be better staying with an Oil based stain/dye. I think Rustins do some? Phone Rustins. Technical help should point you in the right direction. You can also get aniline dye powders that might be compatible. Just a sprinkle of the stuff goes a long way.

Why not just use a dark brown/black grain filler and save yourself a lot of trouble? Jenkins in Tottenham do a very good grain filler in small tins.

+1 from me. Their tech support is also very good.
