All of my life I have worked without anything but a dustpan and brush but with a lot of timber to resaw and plane I thought it time I looked after my lungs a little better so I bought an Electra Beckum extractor.

so my next questions are:-
what do I gain by adding a cyclone and is it worth the hassle/loss of space.
Where can I buy the cheapest hose should I need more
What is the best location to fit on a Kity 613 bandsaw.
Is this one powerful enough to run points all around the workshop or should I stick to one hose and just move that around as I go.

Yes if you use blast gates and close off the gates you are not using. The cyclone is a good idea as you will only need to empty one canister and not have to clean up filters and stuff from the main unit so often maybe once or twice a year as 99% goes into the canister with the cyclone

I don't think your extractor is big enough to run a system of ducting and you would be better moving the extractor as close as possible to the dust source it is expensive to install ducting with blast gates and I think you would be disappointed with the results and end up buying a bigger extractor in the end take my word for it I found out the hard way.Good quality flexible hose is expensive but you get what you pay for buy cheap and you will end up buying twice, hope my comments help.

I've just bought flexible clear hose for a decent price from eBay seller evcvent. I recently got cyclones for both my vac and chip collector and it seems to work really well for ease of emptying and saving filters. The small cyclones are on eBay, the bigger ones are a bit harder to find. A diy thien baffle is another option.
