Earlier last month I visited Dublin and saw three great woodturning related exhibits at the museum of archaeology. (Apologies for the reflections from the glass.)
I loved the details of the yew handles on this lime (I think it was) bowl. Mortice and tenoned together...
A roughed out bowl in oak - not sure whether this would have been roughed out wet for finish-turning dry like we would do nowadays or maybe finished green but anyway it's clear that roughing out bowls is nothing new...
Finally someone after our own heart although he doesn't look a particularly happy chappy :wink:
