I have an 18v cordless drill which one day during use decided to pop the internal fuse in the battery. It now instantly pops the internal fuse on every battery I've put on it as soon as the trigger is pulled. Does anyone know what may be causing it please?

Sounds like a short somewhere in the drill, may be a suppression capacitor across the drill motor has failed, or the speed controller.

Ah. B&Q special. How old is it? IIRC, they come with a 2 year guarantee so if it's under 2 years old I'd throw it back at them.

Check the motor armature where the brushes contact - sometimes this ends up so full of crud I can cause shorts, Cured by a good clean and scraping the gunk from between the individual plates.
