I am now the proud owner of a dozen white doves, having rescued them from having their necks rung by the previous owner
Does any one have plans for a dovecote please

Plans for dovecote=no
Plans for getting shot of five dozen doves=yes.

Bryan.

Hi - I have some plans (Hobbies plan 720) that I inherited some time ago from another family woodworker.
I'm unlikely to build one myself (probably share the first comment about doves / pigeons) so if you send me a PM with your address I'll post them to you.
Regards,
Glynne

A BIG thank you to Glynne, who has sent me a set of plans for free =D> =D>
I hope I can repay the favour someday, meanwhile I'll make a donation to a cancer charity , as my sister-in-law is currently undergoing chemo

When that dozen turns into five dozen (very quickly) and they start to carp all over your car/ conservatory etc. you will see why previous owner wanted to dispose of them.

I thought the dovecote usually comes before the doves?
Don't you have to net over the dovecote, and feed the birds by hand for a week or two; to 'imprint' on the birds so they know where home is?

Or is that homing pigeons? :?

Your right John. You would normally have the dovecote ready first but in this instance they were 10 mins from having their necks rung  when I rescued them
They are currently being housed in a large dog kennel and will follow your advice once their permanent home is ready :D

NP Max,

Although Don't take my words as gospel. I am merely repeating what I think I was told, so you might do well to check how long it takes to 'imprint' the doves!

Have fun building the Cote; best of luck with the Doves. :D
