Possibly. I'd never even heard the word trivet until I began looking at scroll saw patterns.

I would agree a trivet,for putting very hot pans or plates on to protect work surfaces.Nice design would fit in anywhere you could put vase of flowers on it.Well done Martin.

Whatever it is. my o/h has claimed it. She won't be putting her bowl of jam on it, the bowl melted in the microwave this morning while she was heating the sugar. :mrgreen:

If you do end up turning it into a trivet, I am curious if you (or anyone else) would suggest a finish that would make it heat resistant?
