i have been given the challenge of building dog door

we have a cheap one but the rubber swing door will never seal the hole

plan is 2 doors

one on outside that shuts against outer door with magnets at bottom and seal around the edge with hole in it ( just a frame tbh)
other door opens in but closes against outer frame

does this make sense

i cant weld btw

Steve

If the dog is outside, how does it open the door to get in?
If the dog is inside, how does it open the door to get out?

Assuming both doors are closed of course.

i knew i could not explain well

outside is a frame on hinge fixed to door
inside is acrylic attached to frame with another hinge

dog goes out and pushes acrylic and frame
dog comes in...the frame stays still.... the acrylic swings in

so any ideas on the build ?

please

door is usual white plastic

already has hole cut for **** dog door

i think maybe piano hing
earth magnets
sticky back seal

but what make out of ?
I can rivet
i can cut wood
I can't weld
but would pay for someone to weld if best option

Steve

How about investing in a decent manufactured one like Stawells, and adding rare earth magnets or strip magnets if you want more closing power.

2 dogs ......big dogs
I not getting up half way thru the nite

I wouldn't dare try climbing thru the dog door....let alone worry about an intruder getting eaten

and I have orders from boss lady

I just got to work out how to make it

I am thinking aluminium angle , hinges , magnets, rivets and a big headache

You need something like this maybe ?
