Hi all, I need to cut a doorway in some MDF of a dolls house, i am a bit limited with tools, now the upright or side cuts are easy, its the cut across the top of doorway.
Tools i have are hand saw, jig saw, drill with modelers round cutter some place.
any suggestions.

I know how they do it professionally (CNC) or how it could be done with a router, a bearing guided cutter and a template but I'm not sure how you would do it with your limited tools.

If you can hide a slightly poor edge with the doorframe I might go with a sharp chisel and a hammer. Maybe score through the MDF with a stanley knife first. It's the middle that tends to go a bit fluffy.

If it has to be neat then a router, if you are putting a door on then use a jigsaw. The last time I made a dolls house I bought the doors and they slot in one side and have some little bits of moulding for the other side. Any dodgy cutting gets covered up.

It sounds like a simple jig-saw job. Cut an arc from the vertical into the horizontal then come back the other way. Perhaps the situation makes it more difficult than? If so, do tell and I feel sure that more relevant help will be forthcoming.

With only your tools, do as thomvic says. My choice would be the Bosch (or Fein) multi tool with a narrow flat blade in it.
Second choice would be a coping saw.
Where abouts are you in Hampshire and is it a one-off job, I may be able to help out,

A Fein multimaster is about £160. A coping saw is about a fiver!

Any rough edges can be smoothed off with a file, or a piece of sandpaper stuck to a stick.

Thanks all, will go for the jig saw, the doorway will be a secret passageway with a bookcase that swings open.
I can not use my router yet as to soon after my op and left hand is buggered.
Thanks all for help and offers of help but i have got to give it a go.
Thanks Reg
