Never seen one of these before. "USA" is all I can see of the mark. Good order but well used, everything loose. The handle comes off with a simple thumbscrew.

That's a fascinating hybrid, really quite an elegant adaptation - any idea of vintage?

Nice, how will you sharpen it? (homer)
With a humongous specialised jig covered in brass knobs and little dials and gauges, of course. How else?

I guessed as much. Rounded bevel? :D

Unusual combination how does it work? The small wheel for fine drills and the brace for augers?

Something like that I suppose. It's a breast drill and a brace so I guess it's intended for a worker in both metal and wood.

Looks like a Millers Falls No.182 (without checking the website to see if this has minor differences).

I wonder if they were practical?

Cheers, Vann.

How well does the breast drill work in practice?
Works fine. Better in two respects - there is more steadying leverage with the brace than you'd have with the normal handle, and you can switch to brace if necessary without taking off the gear.
