Is there such a thing as a child-safe wood-filler ? I'm making some hardwood Xmas toys and need to hide my mistakes ( ). The only reference to child-safe filler I can find on Google is 'Red Devil Spackle', but that appears to be for filling plasterboard walls rather than wood.

I generally use sawdust from the job, mixed with glue, which is generally liquid hide glue.
While not pleasant to eat I think hide glue must be close enough to things that we do eat not to be a problem.

While not a laboratory tested and assured answer, and depending how much anyone would manage to eat, I hope this is some help. It does work well as a filler!

Much what I was thinking ... Titebond 3 seems to be a good glue choice for stuff in contact with food, children etc.
