I have a charnwood w691 extractor. It's normally only used for short bursts, however if I run it continuously for more than about 30-40 mins it cuts out. The manual states that the machine is not suitable for continuous use over 2 hours but I'm not getting anywhere near that. The motor does seem to get quite hot. Anyone else had this problem? Left to cool down for 10 minutes it seems to be fine again...

Or the plastic fan on the end under the cover not getting a clear flow or not rotating, occasionally on cheaper motors the fan is only a push fit and once warmed up due to overheated motor lose grip on shaft.

Dust restricts airflow and reduces cooling.

In these small motors the overload is normally buried in the windings, you can find that the trip temperature of these overloads can vary from motor to motor as they are not calibrated to any great accuracy.

If the motor has clear airflow, fan operating etc as stated in the previous posts, then it is a case of living with it unfortunately. :(

Take care.
