I'm sure they are wonderfully well machined to a crazy level of precision but I still think that video had been tinkered with! The final part where it clicks into place doesn't look right.

I have noticed that my glue lines in wood look tighter on camera than in person so to speak so I am sceptical too. Not done a lot of metal work though.

That last video on that Snopes page looks particularly dodgy to me, the very last second of it!
If it was cut to precisely the same size as the hole wouldn't the friction alone be too great for it to sink in via gravity?

They can apparently machine to thickness of a red blood corpuscle. I dread to think what it costs.
