Can anyone tell me what this is?

There is one in each large room of the property (bedrooms and lounge). They're painted over, so clearly not used. But they stick out a mile and I'd like to remove them if I can.

I did open it up but forgot to take a picture. There was quite a bit inside, including a lot of insulation and it's MDF I believe, so I'm guessing it's not a heater.

Will take a picture of inside when I get back. And some more of the wiring

I think they're storage heaters, of the "break the laws of physics / rip-off" variety.

Either that or you actually bought the Big Brother house, and they're camera positions. Have you noticed any faded celebs skulking in corners?

It is a vent. There will be two 100mm (ish) pipes through the wall to outside and a centrifugal fan. I think they were fitted in the 1960's when secondary double glazing for noise proofing was added to the building. I removed some in a house which i recently renovated.
