Hi

Readers may recall that I have my particular habit of carving bits out of my work.

I have just taken delivery of my chestnut bristle mop as recommended here on the forum. I usually finish using the Beal mop system

Anyone know how I should be using these to achieve the "ultimate" finish

thanks in anticpation

Hi Colin,
I have 2 bristle brushes, 1 dome shaped for the inside of bowls/platters & a flat one for the outside of bowls etc.
I use them in the jacobs chuck mounted in the headstock at approx 1200rpm.

My Domed brush has just been 'modified' by exchanging the supplied mandrel for an 8mm Bolt and captive nut so that it now fits the Chestnut mandrel and use it much the same as any other 150-200mm Mop. as bill says about 1200 rpm.

I prefer Carnauba or Microcrystalline, soft pastewax can leave you with trapped white deposits, which don't initially show up until it fully dries out if you are not careful.
