double check the hole size before you make them- this is pretty critical to get birds to nest in them.
 
you could always drill it slightly bigger or smaller than the plan- what i meant was do not just follow it to the exact dimension.
 
You need to be quite precise about the size of the hole (down to a couple of mm), depending what sort of bird you're trying to attract - if it's too big the smaller bird's nest will get robbed. Don't do what many people do and put a perch on the front, it encourages robbing. Don't use tanalised wood. The RSPB site has plans and dimensions iirc.
