I have a Beko DWD 5414S that's gone wrong. A slight burning smell, a few pints of water on the floor and a four hour incomplete cycle when I switched it off. I would imagine the pump has probably packed up. Anyone with any knowledge of these things? Are they difficult to work on?

I think most dishwashers have the same layout....

YouTube is your friend here...

When our Siemens dishwasher packed up... I found loads of videos on how to fix it online....

I got a new pump from eBay and it took less than an hour to fix...

Beko is a bit of a byword for product recalls. Have a look if there is one out on your machine, you just might get a foc repair

'Er indoors has one of these, In the past, I used Indesit for years D/W, and washing machine,T dryer etc, but the quality got really low so I decided to try the buy cheap Beko, and have the repair insurance route a couple of years ago.
It's working out well, so far.
I've never had much luck repairing any "white" goods, even with the Haynes white goods manual from the library , it seems mainly a job for someone with a fair understanding of electrics too.
I hope you can fix it.
Regards Rodders

I ran it through a couple of cycles with the drain hose flat then another with the hose hooked up properly and it seems to be OK except for a small leak, so I'll take the back off and make sure everything's tight. It might be OK.

Have a look at www.espares.co.uk for a big selection of domestic appliance spares, plus advice on fitting etc, if required.

Their customer service is first class.

Disclaimer I have no connection to this company, other than a satisfied customer.

I assume you have cleaned the filter out?

Its on the front at the bottom, designed to tip the maximum amount of water all over the floor when you unscrew it.

Ours always seems to be full of screws & nails for some reason :-"

It's a dishwasher, not a washing machine :D ... know what you mean, though. Chris - thanks for the link on the spares. It seems OK again (how or why I don't know :? ) - although I suspect it'll be short lived. Bills are coming at us from all sides at the moment.

The main problem with our old one was snapped wires, they break in line with the door hinges due to them being flexed constantly, the test is to pull them from inside the door and the works underneath and find the ones that stretch, cut, strip, solder and heat-shrink and off you go.
