Just spotted this Startrite 352... £30k. A snip indeed.

On a more serious note, I have noticed a few Scheppach 260 planer/thicknessers going lately at around £450. Now surely that is a very fine P/T for that price. I know some here are very wary of 2nd-hand machines, but it is a good way to get a lot for your budget and the 260 is primarily a hobby / amateur machine so most are in fine fettle anyway. Besides, we all make things so we can fix and tune the odd thing too I think. (I don't mean 260s need fixing or tuning - still probably the best sub £1k P/T around I think.)
