Hi All,
Thanks for letting me join. I have an Elektra Beckum BAS 316 G Bandsaw, usually it runs OK. Today when i was cutting an Oak board i heard a bang from the inside, not so good! I am trying to troubleshoot the problem. When i switch it on i can here the motor running, the wheels will not turn unless i spin them first then switch it on. I have noticed for a while that when i turn the tension belt the small wheel (one that moves along with tension pulley) seems to rub against the aluminum spoked wheel.
As yet i haven't changed tyres, or drivebelt, bearings etc.as I am considering upgrading it and want to weight up my options.

Thank you, Justine.

I am a woodworker who uses mainly Scottish hardwoods, my bandsaw usage is around 5-7 hours per week.

Classic capacitor failure. Replacements found easily on ebay. Manufacturers official spares will be much dearer.

cheap to repair and you can sell as a runner when upgrading.
