A T profile will not necessarily produce a better fit as you now have two sets of dimensions to get right.
Better to make the sliding part adjustable to accommodate future wear I find.

Did you glue the runners on?

If not remove one, pack out the screw holes and re-attach it so it is a fraction nearer than it was. They will then both bear on the inside of the T slot and grip the table. Failing that just try some tape along the slot, it will hold for a surprisingly long time before needing to be changed.
