I am ready to push the button and get one,,,don't tell my other half
I am sure she won't notice it

is there a better option before I do?
just hobby use so does not need to be industrial

I cant see a better option at the price.

You might want to see how many theyve got left in stock, I doubt if there are many left.

It is great to have a separate surface and thickness planer, no changeover time needed.

Do you have a surface planer already?

i have a cheap and nasty woodstar p\t and it is carp as a thicknesser
but the planer would be ok till i found a replacement
and could use router table \ router sled until such times

They are not the best but not the worst. Plenty of power but keep an eye on debris fouling the rise and fall mechanism. Roller bed extensions can be sourced for these also.

If I were buying new today I would be looking for a spiral cutter block. I haven't researched it so I don't know what price they start at but worth at least thinking about.
