Very similar. What about speed though? Too fast and the compo gets thrown off.

I can go down below 100 rpm on my wood Lathe., but more often than not I use my metal lathe as driver and use them at 2-300rpm and no problems using the Green Wax/Soap sticks, Ashley Isles demos at Yandles aren't going very slow either.

Have used Burnishing Cream as a trial and no significant spin off, most of the solvent/carrier seems to be absorbed by MDF.
Debris seen in MDF Tray is typical of a session using them.

Most significant is the direction of rotation and ensuring wheel contact surface is going away from you to avoid dig ins.

Dear Jacob and Chas,

I find this sharpening method of yours interesting. Perhaps MDF in itself would suffice to polish an edge, as it can be seen as a kind of bonded abrasive, with large amounts of hard resin in it. I use jeweler's rouge to strop my cutting blades. It might be suitable for your power sharpening method too, as it is a mixture of wax and hematite. It would not fly off the wheels easily, I think.

Have a nice day,

János
