Hmmm....I suppose at a quick glance, it may appear to be 31/2 inches long,.....but I think the 31/2 is a Trend identification number. They have a strange system of id numbers for all their cutters, both Tungsten Carbide & HSS.

This cutter below is an example of how the first few letters have no real relevance to the size of the cutter itself.....

That's what I thought as well Phill especially when it says 31/2 *1/4. I wanted it for my dovetail jig but this is of no use being as its about an inch long :cry:
 
I contacted the seller saying the title seems a bit misleading and they said they had sold a few with no problems. They offered a refund which is fair enough. Phill I needed the shaft to be a bit longer than a standard cutter to use it on a dovetail jig.
