Has anybody used this instead of putty for pointing off the front of single glazed sashes? I'm liking the idea that it can be over painted in 2 hours rather then waiting a few days for putty to harden.

I'm making a replacement box window sash at the moment so was thinking of giving it a try on that.

You can paint linseed oil putty within 2 hours if you use linseed oil paint. Very weather resistant.
The general window problem nowadays is due to modern materials. If you avoid them you avoid the problems

I have used the timbaglaze imitation putty and yes it does work. If you cut the nozzle generously enough and give it a good angle when you're putting it on you can get close to finished results without too much work with a knife. Whether it's better than linseed based is another thing, the sashes I tried it on are still fine but it hasn't been much more than a year.

Would still take beads and pins over putty work any day of the week though.
