afromosia

hi folks, i am making an afromosia back board for a memorial plaque which will be placed outside.I have used the same timber to repair a garden bench which I finished with teak oil.The timber ie the teak turned black.I am wondering if I can use yacht varnish or if it will react with the afromosia Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated regards bw

If you are looking to finish the afromosia in oil, then TruOil is fine. Can't comment on its durability outside, however.

Iirc The woodwork (which was TruOiled) on Jimi's plane marked quite badly when left wet.

thanks for replies.I took my big lump of afromosia to a local workshop to get machined into sizes I can work with. Turns out they do a lot externally with afromosia and use liberal amounts of linseed oil and have never had a problem I will go with this and see how it turns out. thanks again.
