Knocked up a carcass yesterday but it is a bit thin in the waist.

So cut a contrasting piece of timber and routed it as follows.

I ought to go back in the W/S and do the lid tonight but got a pre. med. in the morning for that cataract op.

Got another box on the go as well (logcabin) but got this box lid fitted and will clean up later today.
The timber used is something like an obeche, this piece is disgusting to plane, the grain picks up however it is worked, so hoping it will sand and be presentable.

Good luck with that,DW

Not trying to fighten you but I have a good fiend who had that done,it didn't go very well as he's now classed as partially blind.

Hope you have had a good banter with the specialist on this about success rate?

I have a lazy left eye and am plagued with floater in the right and I appoached a specialist about the op to eradicate the floaters but he refused point blank because of only clear vision in one eye...that speaks volumes to me about ops on the old peepers.

DW, Your production rate on these tissue boxes is tremendous, not least the speed of the ideas for variations you have. I am looking forward to seeing the 'Log Cabin' box. If it is as good as the rest, why wouldn't it be, then it'll be a cracker.

Best of luck with the op etc..

cataract op. consultant advice is not to proceed at present time but to go for eyelid adjustments, so hopefully that can put off the big job for years to come.

Thanks for your comments.

Do you know what's involved with the eyelid adjustments?

a bit of a releaf though I bet

I'll let you know at a later date.

(the reason for the op is that my sight is effected by eyes that look as if I am crying, I thought it was a small cataract that had been causing the problem.)

I must admit I struggled out to the W/S last evening, I think the weather for going in the workshop is unsuitable for us older ages, the reason being I think there is less oxygen available so perhaps older persons are more lethargic.

So I just made do with giving the box a coat of shellac.
The timber used btw was oak flooring plus Idigbo and wenge for my decorative effects.

This morning put on the wax.

Hope you liked them. Will start on the logcabin box later today.

It's funny you say that, as I still see lots of old people around wearing big, heavy coats, even in the middle of the day! :D

Nice boxes, by the way.
