It's a pen in oak. Not just any oak. An oak felled last year, then cut into pen blanks and dried by me. In the past I've only turned stuff green, or from wood already dried when I got it.
I'm off now though, and will be doing more microwave/airing cupboard drying in future.

it does add a certain sense of satisfaction going from tree to finished product dont it? and makes the item a little more special knowing its roots (scuse the pun :()
 
That's it in a nutshell Nev. I picked up some lovely sycamore yesterday and cut it into manageable sizes.
Some of that may be dried using the microwave/airing cupboard method.

I seem to spend more time eye-ing up or picking up wood than anything else! (sort of service to the community - keep Britain Tidy and all)
