In the '80s, I worked in Warwickshire, and was away from home in the week. One summer evening, with a few colleagues, I was participating in a 'Treasure Hunt'. During the course of the fun, I stumbled on a small village called Priors (something) I think it was local to Stratford upon Avon, and Long Itchington.

I remember walking into a small lane, between two rows of cottages, leading to the churchyard, which was just behind the cottages.
It was like stepping back into the 1940s. No sign of anything from the 8os! Fantastic feeling, and of course blackbirds were singing!

I can't go looking for the place at the moment, so I am trying to find it on Google Earth. Just to see if it really is there, or maybe I stepped through a time-warp! If it is there, I'll go and see it again. If I really did walk through a time-warp, I'll go looking for that, and vanish!

So does any one live near this place; and could assist?
And no cracks about getting shot of me through that 'worm-hole'! 8)

TIA

John

Stu,

I watched it when it first did its rounds. Maybe there is such a thing as time travel then, and it isn't a 'repeat'?

TBH I got confused when they changed the actor who played Sparrow's wife. They were virtually identical twins!

(Michelle Holmes and Emma Amos) Which came first I dunno!

There's quire a few "Priors" not far from me in Gloucestershire and Warwickshire. I can't recall what you describe but try Priors Hardwick.

John

I think you are looking for Priors Hardwick (or possibly Priors Marsden) nut my money is on the former.

if you Google it and then look at images that might help you.

Roger

Thanks folks.

It is Priors Marston that I was looking for, Based on the route to it, from my old workplace.

Google hasn't been into the churchyard area of the village, (So even Google don't get in! Maybe it is a time-warp after all!)
Looking at the close up aerial pics, that is definitely the place I recall. So I will be giving it a visit in the Autumn.
I just fancied a bit of Autumn painting. I will check out Priors Hardwick too; there will be some nice views to paint I'm sure.

I am obliged for the helpful information.

John

Thanks Jack. That is familiar, but of course it has been 30 or more years ago. As I checked on Google, I recognised the route to the village, from my old workplace. So it will be easy enough to find.

Thanks again.
