I am trying to put together a set of Hollows and Rounds by either Wm. Madox (1748-75) or George Mutter (1776-99) and I am missing the following planes:
Hollows: 3-8-9-13
Rounds: 5-13-15-17-18
Any assisitance in finding these would be appreciated
Thanks

That's quite a hunt you've set out on, especially for the odd numbers.

The obvious advice is to look carefully through the misunderstood, misdescribed wooden planes on eBay waiting for the distinctive wedge shape to jump out at you. There are still quite a few that turn up on there and sometimes sell quite cheaply. Maybe it's worth contacting some of the specialist business sellers on there and tell them what you are looking for. You could do the same with the handful of specialist on-line/shop-based dealers - there's a good list on Alf's Cornish Workshop website.

I expect you will be looking for some in better condition than the sorry example I described here.

Thanks Andy.. I have a couple of reliable sources that I have asked to keep an eye open for these...peruse Ebay etc on a regular basis...if it takes a while then it does..and while these makers are not rare it is becoming very difficult to find good, quality examples as more and more people like me are collecting them
