    Meet Rowlf

He's a springer! They don't do laid back! Only joking! He's beauty 8) He'll be fine. He's a gun dog! Ours was about 3 months old when his first firework night came along. We stayed in because we were worried about leaving him alone with the noise. He sat at the door happy as a pig in...

Band saw box in willow. WIP

I can't believe it's so long since I started this  I've had a big tidy up in the 'shop this week and I've built my bench since I began this so I thought it was time to finish this one off! 8-) It's all glued up. I need to decide on a catch/clasp/lock for the outer box and then decide...

    DNA The Thief Catcher

I'd agree with that completely, but then I was well up for ID cards until that got scrapped. People worry about "ID theft" and the rights to privacy but surely if it stops or catches one murderer or paedophile then it'd be worth it. I would worry about what people have to hide if they blankly...

    DNA The Thief Catcher

In another similar story a guy got done a few years back for pee-ing up a wall in the street whilst drunk! His DNA was taken and he was found guilty of a rape 6 years earlier. Fantastic technology!

Whos a silly bo, take 2.

I bought a desk fan from the co-op a few years ago. I had to assemble it myself and the thread for the nut holding the blades was "knackered" so I couldn't screw it on. I took it back and got a replacement. The replacement was the same!!!!! :x I took that one back and took a third one home...

    Side table. NOW FINISHED!

No bench drill yet so I just used a battery drill and a spade bit. I clamped things together and drilled each hole through the 2 sections in one go. Then I numbered everything up so that if they weren't perfectly square then they would still work together ;) It worked out well 8)

    Side table. NOW FINISHED!

Vaseline with sawdust.......... ouch!   It came out of my toolbox that I'd not opened for ages. I seem to remember having it for the gearbox bearings on my old scooter :? I must tidy up more!

    Ban the Burka ?

sorry, maybe I wasn't clear on what I was trying to get across, "Hoodies" are banned from shopping centres - no questions asked! Baseball caps banned from pubs - no questions asked! Should the burka be banned? - all of a sudden there's a difficult question because of the religious aspect. As...

    Ban the Burka ?

I agree entirely. Yet shopping centres ban people wearing "hoodies" because everybody who wears one is obviously in there to mug people and nick from the shops! Pubs ban people wearing baseball caps because the cameras cannot see their faces, yet because the Burka is symbolic of religion, we...

Has anybody used the cheapo versions of these that are available on the 'bay? I just wondered if the were worth the gamble for the odd time i'll wanty to use them?

    GOING IT ALONE!!

I'm sure others will be along with more accurate advice but my first impression is that those rates seem a little too cheap to me. You need to be competitive to get your "foot in the door" so to speak, but some people can also be put off if you are too far under everyone else. They adopt the "...

Apple press and scratter (was Drilling stainless steel)

We've always found "Hi-Knox" drill bits to be the best for stainless. We always drill in bursts rather than slowly and continuously. The important thing as mentioned above is to not let the stainless get hot. Plenty of lube or cutting agent will help with this. hth
