    Mitre joints with a router

In a recent thread someone said that they cut mitres for a box on a router table. If they see this post would they please explain how they do it. I have tried it with a chamfer bit but not with any success. Thanks Brian

    Postage costs

I have just heard if a delivery organisation where a jiffy bag costs just £3.99 and a parcel up to 22lbs costs £6.99. See http://www.collectplus.co.uk/ for details. This service uses Paypoint shops which act as delivery and collection point (i.e. no home delivery). Not much good for a table...

    Dog holes

I have drilled some dog holes in my bench (actually more of a table!). The top consists of two layers of 18mm MDF over 22mm pine. The problem is that some of the dog holes meet with the edge of some bearers and I cannot drill far enough to enable me to insert bench dogs fully as the bit is...

    When to stain?

Is it best to stain before glueing, will the stain inhibit the glue in the same way as the final finish?

Has anyone tried this? http://www.rutlands.co.uk/workshop-&-po ... ery-system I bought this recently as I like to use the router in a table whenever possible. So far so good except that the the brass collar which attaches to the guide bush under the insert ring hides the collet nut which...

    More Axminster good service

I placed a small order with Axminster on Wednesday and received their confirmation timed at 4:23pm. At 5.50 I received notice that it had been dispatched. The parcel was received at 10:00 on Thursday. In view of all the publicity about the weather and delayed deliveries this is unbelievable...

    Good service from Incra

I bought an Incra item in Rutlands clearance sale and found that some machine screws and nuts were missing. Rutlands could not find them (at least I assume they couldn't as I have not heard from them apart from an acknowledgement) so I emailed Incra direct who replied by return and are mailing...

    Bandsaw veneer - which blade

What is the best bandsaw blade to use for cutting veneers? Actually what I want to cut are strips about 3mm thick. My current blade is Hakansson Silco 1/2 inch 3TPI AS. The trouble is that I end up with vertical 'corrugations' along the length. I suspect this has something to do with the...

Does anyone know where I can buy Formica? I am making a horizontal router table and need one sheet of Formica 400mm x 550mm to finish it off. Failing this; any suggestions for a substitute? Previous threads have not produced any success. The 'table' part (vertical) is made of two pieces of...

    Draper Router

I know this will not sit well with many of you but has anyone any experience with the Draper router? A review suggested that the fixed base could be used in a router table and the motor removed for use in the plunge base. I am aware of a certain reputation Draper tools have had in the past...

    Free Plane Blades

I have a number of plane blades and chip breakers that were in a lot I bought at an auction. I have no use for these but if any member can use them then a trip to Reigate will be necessary. There is a mixture of Stanley (England & USA) and Thos Ibbotson. 2in to 2 1/2 in, about 12 in all...
