    Exciting news! (For me anyway)

Excellent piece of work =D> Will need to have a look the next time I am in the science centre. I like the fact that each bit has a different jigsaw piece. =D> The display that you have in Strathclyde Uni are they also on view to the public?

    Down - but not out

Gill Don't feel down hearted. It really is hit and miss. I don't do craft fairs anymore, but when I did I paid anything between £10 and £90 for a table. The 90 pounds fair was a total disaster, didn't make a penny and was moved by Health and Safety into an indoor tent that was playing extremely...

    Tool shops

Yeh Bill's tool store is a great store in the barras. You are right about them being limited to quality tools. I have always bought similar items from Rutlands or axminster because of the same reason as yourself. I know that crockets in Glasgow sell Record Irwin and Stanley Planes. Not to sure...

    Fuse box dilemma

Thanks for the quick reply Carlb40. I thought about the Hinges that you show. I have never installed these before although I do have forstner bits. As you know you only get one shot with them. So bit concerned about accuracy when installing them.

    Fuse box dilemma

Hi there, i have been asked to install a basic cabinet around a fuse box for a friend. The fuse box is on the wall above an internal door right underneath the stairs :x The right hand side of the cabinet would need to be cut at an angle to accomodate the slope from the stairs. Apologises but...

    Scroll Saw Particulate Masks ?

I use the Sundstrom half mask respirator. Comes with disposable filters. Very good fit and if sealed in an airtight container filters will last. Here is a link http://www.arco.co.uk/products/168600/1 ... Respirator Excellent buy.

    Scrollsaw cutting slowly

Cheers Chippygeof for the reply. I will have a look at the brushes when I find out where they are on the machine. Lol My machine is 14 months old so if it is the brushes I will be sending it back to SIP. Cheers

    Scrollsaw cutting slowly

For the past couple of days my scrollsaw has been cutting slowly at top speed. When I turn the variable speed knob to anything below the top speed the blade stops moving. Anybody any ideas what could be causing the machine to stop cutting at lower speeds. It is a SIP 16" if that helps.

    Castle for my sons birthday

Lovely piece of work. your son will get hours of enjoyment from it. I thought about making my 6 year old a castle. However my local model shop was selling a castle with knights half price so bought one instead. I then decided to make him a world war 2 french scene with trees village...

    Axminster Blade Clamp Grub Screws

Hi there, I tried the idea of cutting the clamp. Put it into my vice and then used am Irwin hacksaw to cut through the blade clamp. This idea worked on my number 12 and 9. =D> Anything under this size and again the blade slips. This is with me putting a lot of pressure on the screw to tighten...

    Sip 01928

I am interested to know what the problem is with the conrol panel. ??????

    Sip 01928

I don't have any experience of the new SIP scroll saw. However the older model is okay for a budget machine apart from the blade clamp. As said before on previous posts the clamps are extremely poor and don't hold blades, even thick blades. I have used the machine on a hobby basis. Maybe once or...

    Bent Pine

Thanks for the reply AndyT. Cupped. (that is the correct terminology for it lol). Yeh every board is cupped. I think I will use the wood to cut out animal shapes on the scrollsaw for the kids to decorate. Just don't like seeing wood go to landfill if it can be saved. Cheers mate.
