    spares for chuck

I have a Fox4000 chuck. I think I might check my screws! As an aside, have you ever taken the jaws out? Being an engineer, I am aware of the normal re-fitting of chuck jaws, but when I tried re-fitting mine, I discovered they go back in the order 2-3-4-1. :? .......Most unusual.

    I have made shavings!

Thanks guys. These comments make good sense in retrospect. I was going to wait until I had used it for awhile, however, it may be better to do a 'first impresssions' review, and then add to it as issues arise (Or not :D )

    I have made shavings!

Finally got my lathe, after the first one went missing in the post! Yes, hard to believe I know. Couple of quick questions if I may: What are the signs that you are turning your wood at the correct speed? Or maybe the question would be better asked the other way around. And...

    Give my balls a home

This is probably a really stupid question, but does anyone on this forum make stuff to order? The reason I ask, is that in my collection of Billiard memorabillia, I have a lovely set of 19th century Ivory billiard balls. I have purchased a few old ball boxes (To suit 3 balls), but none of them...

    The obsession continues.

Nice piece Chas. :D I have noticed that most of the pieces I have seen images of, have exceptional finishes. Are they difficult to produce?

Off and running.......or is it turning?

Hi guys. Just to let you know that after receiving your advice, I have read the Rowley book. And have booked myself a days tuition with a local RPT member, who is also going to give me advice on how to spend my filthy lucre. I am hoping to get some equipment to practise the basics, and then...

    Not having a mid-life crisis......Honest!

As there doesn't appear to be a section for introductions, I will just post a bit about myself here, as Woodturning is the genre I am interested in. I am 47 years old, married, no children. I have recently started a list of "Things to do before I reach 50". One of those 'Things' is...
