I am not sure about the proportions as a single piece but it was more about getting some practise than anything else.

The photo of the inside is for Chas. Yes I am getting better, not very deep
or thin walled yet,but it did not come off the chuck and NO dig'ins.

Found that tools blunted very quickly on the segmented section.
combination of beech and glue I suspect.

On the subject of blunt tools I have just brought the Sorby ProEdge sharpening system. Anybody else tried it? I found it to be an excellent
product.

sorry forgot sizes
as a single piece 200mm max dia x 160mm height.

Question: seem to have links to photo's but not actual pic's why?
is it me?
davol.

Very Nice Davol.

You need to put
around your links to display the pictures. If you edit your post, highlight each link and press the 'Img' button. hth

Very smoothly finished davol, no loss of sharp edge detail with the sanding, glad you are getting to grips with the internals, sharp tools do make a great deal of difference.

I am envious of your segmented achievement, I still do not have a saw of any description capable of accurate repeatable angles or surface finish.

Hi all.
non answers to the questions I am afraid.

The timbers used are, teak/beech for the segmented section.
I am not sure of the lid and base. The blanks came to me undefined,
My best guess would be either elm or chestnut but I am not sure.
If anyone can identify it from the photo's I for one would be most grateful.

As for the time it took I realy do not know. the lid was made as seperate piece (bowl) some time before the main body. Adapting it as a lid came as an after thought. I know it was a fair length of time but I am still at the lower end of the turning learning curve, so time does not realy come into the equation.

Thanks all for your interest
