    Makita RT0700 vs Katsu Routers

I have two Katsu Routers, one with smooth speed control and one with clicks. I use one as the spindle in my OX cnc, and have replaced the speed control with a homemade PID controller to get better low speed torque. The difference between the clicks and no clicks model is just the potentiometer...

    ts200 Miter gauge dimension

The springs are not as stiff as I would like. You can adjust them so they have minimal movement, but this gave me issues on my TS200 as the slots are not perfect, the right slot narrows by more than 0.1mm over it's length and the left slot is overall slightly tighter than than the right. If I...

    ts200 Miter gauge dimension

Ok, this is my replacement mitre bar made from 15x6mm flat bar; And it next to the somewhat battered original bar, I cross drilled and tapped M3 threads all the way through in three places then fitted sprung ball bearing grub screws, with a normal grub screw behind to lock their position...

    ts200 Miter gauge dimension

My original ts200 mitre bar is the same dimensions. I made a replacement (improved) bar from 15 x 6mm flat bar, with 3mm ball bearing grub screws fitted in the side to adjust the fit. I can take some photo's if your interested.

    Printed parts

I did build an enclosure, and agree that is the key to getting reliable ABS prints. A coating of "ABS Juice" on the bed helps too. I have tried PETG as an alternative, but I didn't get on with it.

    Printed parts

I got a printer at Christmas, One of the first actually useful things I printed was a bandsaw insert for my Metabo BAS316 (design from thingiverse ). I've found it useful for all sorts of odds and ends; drawer pulls, various vacuum hose adapters, feet for greenhouse staging, brackets for...

Thinking of buying a OX CNC kit

I've had a 1000 X 750mm Ooznest OX for about 18months. I purchased it a primarily as electronics/computer project to learn about motor control and built my own controller, then a PID Speed Controller for the Katsu router I use as a spindle. The Ooznest kit is excellent, everything is well...

heaters (radiant electric, wall mounted) for workshop

I use a quartz bulb heater, this one; https://www.primrose.co.uk/firefly-18kw-wall-mounted-quartz-bulb-electric-tube-heater-with-power-settings-p-52405.html?cPath=1299_1300_10433&src=list_name last year before my garage was insulated, you really had to be standing in front of it to feel the...

    Cheapo palm router

Are you sure those collets fit ? I've been trying to source a 6mm collet for my katsu, but I thought those were for the plastic bodied makita copy. In the genuine makita models the collets are not compatible.

    Machining perspex

It may be because there are two forms of Acrylic sheet; cast and extruded. The cast form machines well, the extruded stuff melts at the slightest provocation. Coloured/tinted Perspex sheets are generally cast, clear perspex is available as both with the extruded being quite a bit cheaper. I...

    Machining perspex

I regularly cut 3mm perspex with my cnc router, and find it to be one of the more forgiving plastics. It produces nice chips at a variety of cutting speeds with very few melting problems. I expect you'll be fine using a router to cut the rebate, and a standard single or 2 flute cutter will be...

    Lidl tools coming up.

I got the track saw last time around, and use it with a festool track. The supplied parkside tracks are very close to festool profile, but not exactly the same. I have to make a small adjustment with the cams when swapping, and while you can join the parkside and festool tracks; I don't due the...

Plus net your views and recommedation

I've been a happy plus net customer for 10+ years. In that time generally everything has just worked as it should, i've had to contact their customer support twice; once for a line fault, and they had the BT engineer visit to repair the fault the next day, and once for a billing issue when I...

Help with reassembly of Metabo BAS317 bandsaw

Your assembly looks about right to me, here's my working one for comparison. The only thing that looks different is the amount of thread showing at the bottom, could the shaft be upside down ? The tension cam works by pushing up the outer sleeve at the top, it is not attached. If any more...

    The Lidl plunge saw

I replaced mine with a trend 48T blade CSB/16548B for similar reasons, and I'm happy with the results. not that I thought the supplied blade was particularly bad. I wasn't sure the saw will take a thin kerf blade. Looking at the arbor I thought there might me a problem tightening it up if the...

    The Lidl plunge saw

I don't know about the Scheppach track, but I've tried mine on a festool track and it runs fine on that. just needed a tweek of the adjusters.

    M K TOOLS

I've used them on and off for twenty years or so. Originally when they were a real shop in Preston, more recently via ebay. Never had a problem with them.
