    Is it me

I had a scheppach sd16 scroll saw for crimbo. Up until now I have used it with big pinned blades. However, I now want to go a bit finer, so have tried fitting a fine pinless blade but I can't do it. The top clamp is no problem but I can't get it in the bottom. As soon as I try to nip up th grub...

    Hegner single speed

Hi all, Haven't been on here for a while. I did have an excalibur ex16 which I loved using, but I abused with heavy woodwork and it final gave up on me. I should put some effort into fixing it, but I'd just bought a lathe and turning was my new passion. Anyway I'm missing sc roll sawing, so I...

    dead scroll saw

Hi, can any of you experienced scroll sawers help a man in a fix. I have an Excalibur16 which I have had for 4 years with no problems. However, today I cut a couple of pieces of wood but when I went to do another the saw was dead. It has power and the fuse is ok. I have removed the blade and...

    pen turning

Hi, I have purchased a 7mm pen turning kit from a well known supplier and made a few slimline pens. I am enjoying making them because they are quick projects to fit in between other duties. Anyway, I would like to start making some of the other pen styles I have seen. I have noted that most...

    New turner

Hi This is my first post in the wood turning section. Until now I have been scroll sawing but, having promised myself for years, I final purchased a lathe for a retirement present. I have never used a lathe before even at school so I'm pleased with my progress. To date I have done 4 practise...

    Commision from the wife

I haven't been on here much recently due to the fact that I've been concentrating on my watercolour paintings and now that I'm getting older it is too cold in in my workshop at this time of the year. I suppose I could put a fire on out there but it is cosier inside with my paint box. Anyway, my...

    Dust extraction port

I have a 4inch Clarke belt/dic sander but the dust extraction port is too big for my vacuum nozzle. Where can I get a reducer? I know a vacuum isn't ideal for the task I'm going to use it for, but its for very short infrequent use only. Thanks Sam

    Oak Box

I thought I'd share my latest creation with you. It is a box made from oak with 6mm bb plywood oak leaf inlay. I carved the acorns from what I think was a piece of bass wood using a belt sander and a rotary tool. I ebonised the box so that the leaves would stand out. Thanks for looking.

    A Prezzy

I've made my wife a box for Christmas and I think she will like it. It is made from a maple and walnut sandwich and the inlay is 6mm BB ply and a little bit of mahogany for the leaf brat at the bottom of the flowers. The inside of the box was flocked and I have finished the rose off with a...

    Tulips

Following on from my recent success with the inlaid poppies, I thought I'd have another go on a similar theme just in case it was a fluke. I made a another vase using a Steve Goode outline and then inlaid some tulips of my design into it. I then finished it off with a bit of pyrography. The wood...

    A Disaster

I'm sure we all have failures when scroll sawing, but I've just had a disaster. I have been doing a bit of inlaying with polymer clay and everything's been going well. For one of my projects I purchased a small wooden pot and inlaid some harebells into it. The photo below gives you an idea of...

    Planter

I knew it was a mistake making my wife a wooden vase for her clay flowers because she is mow making more requests. Most recently she asked for a wooden planter for the cyclamen plant she was making. I made her this from a piece of old pine wardrobe. Not very exciting I know, but its my own...

    Wooden Vase

My wife asked me to make a wooden vase for the clay flowers she has started making. The centre is made from maple and the front and backs are obeche. I chose obeche because she wanted to do a pyrography pattern on it. I kept it simple to see how it came out, trouble is, she now wants a few more...

    Table saws

I am getting fed up with hand sawing wood in preparation for scroll sawing. I also think that a power saw would be more accurate than my manual cuts. What power saws do other scrolls use to get straight square cuts? I've looked at several table top saws, but they have blades that look like they...

    Latest box

I am very busy at the moment renovating the bungalow that we moved into earlier this year so I haven't had much time for scroll sawing. However, I did pinch a few minutes last week to give my saw a little exercise. Here is a box that I did. It's nothing special, but its my own design and I...
