    Got myself a wee project

Looks like a worthwhile project. Not sure it's worth modifying a top slide to be honest. Originals crop up on ebay fairly often.

Is this the dullest gp this year?

    ALDI Workzone Lathe - Dangerous.

I very much doubt something close to kendal mint cake ever broke.

    Got myself a wee project

Hi, should be a good little project. I restored a similar RandA lathe last year, i also had to fabricate the motor mount and countershaft assembly. I actually turned down a v belt pully into a flat belt pulley and to be honest the flat belt drive is very smooth and doesn't slip and has a...

Sometimes you luck out. I found a toolbox by chance.

Their website says the business is for sale and a decision is imminent. Doesn't look good

    Europe. Gold medals

If you didn't like it you wouldn't join a conversation about it. I saw that figure about the 4 million but i think it's a bit misleading.

    Tiling a kitchen floor dilemma

I would go with what my wife said. It can't ever be wrong without being her fault.

    Anyone recognise this?

Possibly an old naerok, all the badges would've been on the belt cover. A picture of the right side of the column base would confirm it. Update, naerok 350 MT3 spindle? Handy little machine, much better than a rong fu clone.

    Shotgun Box WIP

Those brass corners came out really nice. I can see why you opted to make them. Table saw cut them ok?

    Shotgun Box WIP

Looks like a nice storage box and a good use of quality old timber. I've been tempted to make a similar box for my archery gear, though i don't have any wood as posh as that. Is there a reason for making the brass corners?

    New business idea. Can't fail.

I don't know if anybody still does this but there was a spate of eBay seller cuting and pasting argos adverts and adding 10%. When someone buys they simply order it from argos and give the buyers address. No stock, no posting, no need to even leave the house. Some of these sellers were clearing...

    Challenge Accepted - Gnarly Root

You have to remember when trying to id by bark that mature bark looks different to younger bark and root balls look different again. Hawthorn is pretty hard and root balls are pretty tough so a hawthorn root ball would be blunting tools left right and centre.

    Challenge Accepted - Gnarly Root

Could it be hawthorn? Seems a bit twisted to be pine. Either way i think it's stunning. One of the best things about working wood is the "faults" within and the features it creates.

Oh Lordy how I hate modern plumbing

A lot of showers, mainly triton have a grub screw that locks down and the handle screws on to the exposed part of the thread. Often it gets stuck in the arm and works loose.
